The 30-mile easy-to-intermediate route departs with all cyclists in a mass start at 7:00 AM and is escorted out of Hays by the Hays Police Department. This scenic route features mostly flat terrain with just one gentle 2-mile climb at a 1.4 grade. It is perfect for riders looking for a comfortable yet rewarding challenge.
Restrooms and SAG support will be available, courtesy of the Catharine church members. At Saint Catherine Church, riders will be treated to a beautiful performance by Hays Symphony principal brass musicians, Brad Dawson on trumpet and Renetta Dawson on French horn, with Tom Meagher joining them at 8:14 AM. A proud “native Catharinite” will also be on hand to serve as your local guide.
From there, cyclists continue on to Saint Fidelis Basilica, the renowned “Basilica on the Plains.” Along the way, additional SAG support and guides will be provided by parish representatives. Upon arrival in Victoria, the sounds of the Saint Fidelis Brass Quintet will resonate through the cathedral towers, creating a truly unforgettable experience.
The $50 registration fee includes a post-ride German meal with live music, a commemorative T-shirt and a swag bag.
